The multiple athletes field allows a professional user to tag multiple people to a record. It can also be used to create a clone of the record for each tagged person, if enabled.
To use this field, a professional user can fill out a single entry of an event form for one person and then select other people with the multiple athletes field. They do not need to select the person who they are currently completing a record for.
The multiple athletes field should not be used in group entry mode.
If the event form is set up to create cloned records for the tagged people, records will show in reports and performance history for each of the selected people, with all tagged people listed in the multiple athletes field. Selecting the record allows entries to be opened and edited in single or group mode. In group mode, any one of the entries can be edited and updated individually.
In the example above, a record was created for William Brown and five other people were tagged using the Athletes Attended field. The records have been opened from the reports tool in group mode to show the original record and the cloned records.
To enable the multiple athletes field, ensure that the person’s role contains the Edit athlete fields system permission. To create cloned records for each tagged person, adjust the Athlete fields form advanced property to Create event for athlete.
Using the multiple athletes field in an attendance workflow
An example of where this field could be useful is in an attendance event form which contains details about the session. It isn’t efficient to enter a record for each person individually if everyone completed the same session, and group entry mode may not be suitable.
In this example, the attendance form should contain fields to enter information about the session and a multiple athletes field with the form advanced property Athlete fields set to create an entry for each person.
To record attendance, a professional user should create a record for one person. It does not matter who is selected, as long as the person attended the session.
Use the multiple athletes field to select the people that the entry will apply to. Click the No Athletes selected link and tick the relevant people to tag them.
Confirm the selection by clicking the x Athletes selected button in the pop-up window, and save the record when complete.
Now that each person has their own record for the training session, they could open their record and update the individual fields such as RPE and duration.
