You can use the Age calculation to display someone's age in an event form. Their age is determined based on the birthdate recorded in their Smartabase user account.
The result of an Age calculation is based on the date of the record or another static data point within the record, not necessarily today's date.
Use the advanced field properties to calculate someone’s Age at any date from the event form. The Event date (i.e. the date of the record being viewed) is commonly used, but you can also reference a Date or Date calculation field within the form. Using a date from within the record can be useful if you want to know how old someone was when they achieved a performance milestone, suffered an injury, qualified for a competition or any other occurrence that may not be reflected in the date of the record itself.
The age value can be displayed as days, months or years by setting the Display units in the advanced properties. The value is rounded down - so if, for example, someone is aged 25 years and 9 months and the Age calculation has been configured to display age in years, the result will be 25.
In this example, an Age calculation has been used to display the age of an athlete in a maintenance request form. The field is configured to calculate the athletes' age relative to the date of the event and display the athlete's age in years. The inclusion of the age calculation helps practitioners, like physiotherapists or massage therapists, determine the best way to provide treatments.
